Laura is a powerhouse and has worked in leading buying roles for brands including ASOS and Topman. But she gave all this up to follow her dream and open her very own stylish nail studio, House of Lady Muck (HOLM), that currently resides in pride of place at Topshop’s flagship store on Oxford Street.

Since starting HOLM, Laura and team have worked with a number of clients including: Dior, Wonderland, Dazed & Confused, Nike and Sophie Hulme and is going from strength to strength with lots of plans in the pipeline.

We’re thrilled to have Laura join us at Spark to share with us her journey so far and why she decided it was time to follow her dreams.

Craig Beaumont, Federation of Small Businesses

As director of external affairs and advocacy for the FSB, Craig is passionate about supporting small businesses and is proud to offer the FSB members a wide range of vital business services including advice, financial expertise, support and a powerful voice in government with their aim being to help smaller businesses achieve their ambitions.

Prizeology founder and director Sarah Burns has two decades of experience in the prize promotions industry, running prize draws and competitions, and working with agencies, businesses and brands. She is a member of the Fraud Women’s Network and in recognition of her work on raising public awareness of prize draw scams the National Trading Standards Scam Team has made her a Scambassador.

John Richards – Founder & Author, Awareness Change

John has spent more than 18 years working in crisis intervention with a vast range of clients and organisations as a senior manager, writer and consultant specialising in change management, awareness and holistic development.

He now collaborates with some of the UK’s leading performance and development experts to deliver opportunities for exponential organisational and personal growth. John’s work utilises a unique and revolutionary framework developed over thousands of hours of practical experience, that connects his clients with their all-powerful subconscious.

He delivers bespoke events for UK businesses, organisations and individuals focused on transformative personal inspiration. John is a founding director of The Inspiration Programme, and with his co-directors Neil Laughton and Angus Wingfield, leads Adventure Retreats in places around the world as diverse as Mt Everest and wild South Africa.

His first book; on Awareness, Change, Relationships and Fruitfulness, will be published by EyeWear in the UK in October 2018.

Spark August

We were thrilled to welcome three wonderful speakers for August’s Spark:

Cally Beaton 

Under her birth name Caroline, Cally Beaton has spent more than 25 years working in high profile roles in the international media – most recently as Senior Vice President, Viacom International Media Networks – and brands including MTV, ITV and Comedy Central and she was the youngest ever board member at Carlton Television in the early 00’s.

Cally leads a hugely successful double-life as both business leader and stand-up comedian. Her first episode of QI on BBC2 aired in January 2018, and she has made appearances on BBC Radio 4 ‘s Museum of Curiosity and Radio 6 Music. She took her first show, Cat Call, to Edinburgh in 2016 with comedy partner Catherine Bohart, where it received a Malcolm Hardee Award. Her debut solo show, Super Cally Fragile Lipstick, was a sell-out hit at Edinburgh in 2017, receiving 4**** reviews, national press coverage and picked as Best of Edinburgh Fringe by The Arts Desk.  Cally also won the prestigious 2017/2018 Piccadilly Comedy Club New Act of the Year competition after being tipped as one of the comedians to watch for 2017 by Chortle.

In 2004 she founded Road Trip Media, working with clients who want to change and grow their businesses, helping them release their potential and equipping them with decision-making as well as creative tools. She is a BAFTA voting member and holds a seat on the Development Board of MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation.

A naturally gifted speaker with rare insight and an utterly distinctive voice, we are so excited to welcome Cally to Spark where she’ll be sharing with us:  How To Manage A Muti-Dimensional Career. 

Tom Horne & Will Green, Founders, L’Estrange 

Tom and Will are the founders of menswear clothing brand, L’Estrange and we are thrilled to welcome them to talk about their business story at Spark .

Tom and Will have a very interesting approach and are part of a new wave of young retail brands challenging traditional rules adhered to in the fashion industry to date – they recently made the decision to pull away from all their wholesale partners (including ColletteIsetanSaks 5th AvenueSelfridges, etc) moving away from seasonal collections to focus on considered garments and engaging brand spaces.


At the end of last year they hosted a space in Soho called the Apartment, where they held ‘insider’ events, building their community, showcasing new samples and speaking directly to their customers.  They are now in a new space in Soho where they are hosting a series of events that promote the brand ethos, including a recent event to discuss mental health in partnership with Sanctus.

Tom and Will will be sharing with us their brand story and presenting: Why Challenging Traditional Rules And Conventions As Business Owners Is Important.

MarinaMarina Gask

A journalist with more than 20 years’ experience and a former women’s magazine editor, Marina Gask is a specialist in media relations.

She has been editor of Top Sante, More, Sugar and John Lewis Edition, and taught journalism at Goldsmiths and London Metropolitan universities.

She is also a copywriter for SMEs, and writes for a variety of consumer magazines, including Red and Marie-Claire, business titles such as Director Magazine, plus Daily Telegraph and Huffington Post.

Daniele Fiandaca

Daniele FiandacaDaniele is co-founder of Utopia, a business change consultancy that re-wires business for the Age of Creativity. Utopia’s purpose is to inspire business to think creatively, train staff to behave differently and fundamentally provide consultancy services to rewire the organisation from the inside out.

Alongside Utopia, he co-founded and nurtures a number of communities, which include Brand Social, Creative Social and Innovation Social, which are all focused on accelerating creative and innovative thinking.

He is also a leader in the diversity space – he co-founded Token Man, an initiative to get men into the gender equality discussion as well as The Great British Diversity Experiment, the first ever diversity initiative designed for and by the communications industry that provides specific and practical insight into why diversity works and ​how to leverage it. He is also on the Advisory Board of Creative Equals and is a mentor on the BAME2020 initiative.

Daniele is a Hyper Island Masterclass Speaker and a visiting professor at the European Business school (ESCP). He has won Gold at Cannes, co-edited and co-authored a number of books, including Creative Superpowers which is due to be released in 2018, and is the only qualified accountant to have judged on D&AD.

Daniele will be sharing with us his story and discussing how imperative gender equality in the workplace is more so now than ever.

Spark March

We had a wonderful gathering for Spark in March with amazing guest speakers, Scott Morrison and Annie Brooks.

Scott Morrison

We are thrilled to welcome marketing and brand guru and founder of The Boom!,  Scott Morrison as our March speaker.

Scott has unique experience having worked with or at some of the world’s biggest agencies and brands over the last 20 years as well as creating two successful startups with a combined turnover of nearly £1m in the last four years. A blend of strategic agency nous, client commercial sensitivity and the urgency of startups means that he advises and consults brands as far reaching as PwC, Channel 4, MediaCom and Prostate Cancer UK. He has helped teams realise new revenue streams, create new visions of the future, join their commercial dots in new ways and embed ‘learning’ cultures where innovation has thrived and is delivering growth.

He works with ambitious leaders and businesses who know change is coming and want to be ahead of it rather than lagging behind; leaders who are feeling the pain and want an antidote; leaders who know the answers are somewhere within their business but are weighed down with the day to day to really get traction behind them.

Scott also shares his views on commercial creativity and culture in Marketing, Campaign, BBC, BBC Radio, FT and the Sunday Times. He’s also an author, writing for and curating Hacker, Maker, Teacher, Thief and Creative Superpowers and is a regular speaker around the world.


We were thrilled to welcome the wonderful Annie Brooks – the co-founder of Sister Snog.
Annie shared with us her years of brand building experience, her tips and insight into actions we can start implementing straight away to make our individual brands the best they can be.

The February Launch

Thank you all who joined us for the first Spark – we hugely appreciate the turnout and the feedback.

As with every new event, there were a few teething troubles which we’re addressing but we are constantly working to make it bigger and better – lots going on so watch this space!
